A Beautiful Life Remembered

It is with extremely saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Khania M. Ortiz, who departed this life on April 13, 2026, at the age of 27. She passed peacefully in Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of immeasurable strength, love, warmth, and cherished memories. She was born on March 8, 1999.

Khania was preceded in death by her mother, Altagracia C. Noble, and her paternal grandparents, Ana Celia and Pablo A. Ortiz Sr.

She is survived by her maternal grandparents, Frances and Bobby Petersen.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Kimetha and Ricardo Barnes, Kwesi Sweeney Sr., Kendra Petersen, Pablo III, Tychelle, Omarley, Tyshara, Samalia, and Nashalia Ortiz.

She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Shaniece and Esther “Nicole” Ortiz, Teana Samuel, and Jenisha Hendrickson.

Her nieces are Jurnee, Aiyana, Shaniecia, Briana, Parris and Analisa Ortiz, Angellee Johnson, Anaiah Simon, Tamaya, Tanya, and Tanira Barnes.

Her nephews are Omani, Ojani, De’Jari, and Josiah Ortiz, Yamir Nugent, Khajeel Montaque, Re’Nai Martinez, A’aden Noorhassan, Azariah Simon, DeQuan Grant, JQuan Barnes, Kwesi Jr., Kmani, and Khye Sweeney.

Khania is also survived by her uncles, Luis E. Sr. and Jose Ortiz, Edward Saldana Sr., Eric Thomas Sr., Cleve Urgent, Ronnie, Randy, and Brian Petersen; her aunts, Marie Lopez, Carmen Russell, Debra and Maria “Joy” Thomas; and her great-aunt, Minerva Martinez.

She also leaves behind her cousins, Shenique, Precious, Luis E. Jr “Tito”, Maliah, Lamar and Aniyah Ortiz, Luis Jr. “Bebo”, Lymarie, Edward Jr., Massiah, Malachi, Elijah, Malik, and Eddie Saldana, Jahleel and Jelani Hendrickson.

Among those who held a special place in her life were her close friends, Tetresa Walker, Arrisa Clark, Arrington Moore, Maquana McLucus, JunJun, Rae’ren Jennings, April Williams, Monie, Sani, Tahlia, SoSo, and Shavona.

The family also makes honorable mention of Troy and Shanell John-Lewis, Michelle Simon, and the amazing staff at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

She is also remembered by other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Khania’s memory will live on through each life she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
