Two Men Killed, Third Injured in Lindbergh Bay Shooting During Islandwide St. Thomas Power Outage

Citizens reported multiple shots in Lindbergh Bay around 7:50 p.m. Saturday before VIPD found two unresponsive men and a third wounded victim, with the islandwide outage complicating officers’ investigation.

ST. THOMAS — Two men were killed and a third was injured in a shooting Saturday evening in Lindbergh Bay during an islandwide power outage that complicated the police response and investigation, the Consortium has learned.

The V.I. Police Department identified the deceased victims as 54-year-old Lidio Arturo Jimenez Montero and 49-year-old Guillermo Soto Guerrero. A third male victim sustained at least one gunshot wound and was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

According to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the incident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Police said a citizen contacted 911 to report shots being fired in the area. Shortly afterward, another caller reported hearing multiple gunshots and said three males had suffered gunshot wounds.

Responding VIPD units found two unresponsive male victims who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians checked both men for vital signs and determined that neither had signs of life. Mr. Jimenez Montero was identified by next of kin Saturday, while Mr. Soto Guerrero was positively identified by next of kin on Sunday, May 31.

According to VIPD, the suspect or suspects remain unknown. The suspect’s age, address, arrest date and bail information were also listed as unknown or not applicable in the police release.
