The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center has completed the relocation of all services previously housed in its former main building, a transition hospital officials say is part of ongoing preparation for the demolition and rebuilding of the St. Croix facility.
According to a statement from JFL, all relocated departments are now fully operational across various buildings on the hospital campus. The hospital has released an updated services and campus guide to help patients and visitors identify the new locations and operating hours.
JFL officials emphasized that emergency and inpatient services have not been affected by the transition. The emergency room and inpatient wards continue operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without interruption.
Several services have been relocated to the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center. On the first floor, billing and patient financial services are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Medical records are also open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while human resources operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
On the second floor of the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center, outpatient registration, main registration and admitting are now located together. That includes registration for endoscopy procedures, outpatient surgeries and direct admissions. Those services are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Scheduling is also located on the second floor of the Cardiac Center and operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Outpatient laboratory services and outpatient radiology services are also located there, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Cashiers are now located at the JFL-North Main Entrance, also referred to as the Administration Building. Cashier services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Members of the public are encouraged to consult the JFL Services & Campus Guide for help locating offices and service areas. Anyone needing assistance while on campus may also visit security checkpoints in the lobby of the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center or at the JFL-North Main Entrance.
"JFL thanks the community for its patience and cooperation throughout this transition process and remains committed to providing efficient, accessible, and high-quality healthcare services," the release stated.
With the relocation complete, attention now turns to the demolition of the old JFL campus. Darryl Smalls, executive director of the Hospital Redevelopment Team, said in April that demolition is expected to begin “in the latter part of the summer.”
