Michelle Smith Takes 400m Hurdles in Record Time, Mikaela Smith Wins 800m Heat

The Virgin Islands Track & Field Federation said Michelle Smith won the 400-meter hurdles at the Spec Town Invitational in a season-best 55.47 and later ran on the winning 4x400 relay, while Mikaela Smith captured her 800-meter heat in 2:11.27.

The V.I. Track & Field Federation has reported new results for Michelle Smith and Mikaela Smith, with Michelle Smith posting a season-best performance in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2026 Spec Town Invitational in Athens, Georgia, and Mikaela Smith winning her 800-meter heat at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Florida.

According to the federation, Michelle Smith, a sophomore at the University of Georgia, won the 400-meter hurdles at the Spec Town Invitational, held April 10 to 11, in 55.47. The federation said the time was a new season best and a meet record.

Michelle Smith also ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay, posting a 51.00 split as her team won in 3:24.29.

The federation said her next meet will be the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida, on April 17 and 18.

The federation also reported that Mikaela Smith won her 800-meter heat at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa on April 11, 2026, in a season-best 2:11.27.

Her next scheduled competition is the Embry-Riddle Blue and Gold Invite on April 19 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
